We all know the basics when it comes to what to pack for a game of golf–clubs, balls, scorecards, pencils–but there are lots of easy-to-forget items that you should always have on hand to make your game go smoothly. Here are our top essentials that you’re probably forgetting to pack in your golf bag.
Sunscreen
You’re going to be outside for a while, so protect your skin from the sun’s harmful rays. Even on a gray day, the sun will damage your skin if you don’t slap on some SPF.
Band-Aids
There’s nothing worse than a blister taking all the enjoyment out of your round of golf. Always keep band-aids on hand to eliminate any discomfort from blisters. It is a good idea to pack a basic first aid kit as well, to ensure you’re covered if you find yourself with any minor scrapes or cuts.
Water and Snacks
Stay hydrated and don’t get hangry.
A Towel
It’s pretty likely that you or someone in your party will find themselves with a muddy club and/or ball at some point during play, and having a towel handy to wipe them down is a lifesaver. A small towel doesn’t take up much space in your bag and is well worth the real estate it occupies. You may want to pack two small towels, one for your clubs and one for your hands.
Extra Socks
Sometimes golfing on a cool morning means dew infiltrating your shoes, sometimes golfing on a warm afternoon results in sweaty, uncomfortable feet. Either way, you’re going to be grateful if you’ve got an extra pair of socks to change into.
Ball Markers
Whether you use coins or designated ball markers, you should bring a few. You’ll need to mark your balls, and odds are someone (or several someones) in your party will have forgotten theirs. There are lots of great options of ball markers out there, some plain and some with a lot of personality. Check out our array of ball markers to keep in your bag.
Hand Sanitizer
Now more than ever, we know the importance of keeping your hands as clean as possible. Keep a small bottle of hand sanitizer in your bag at all times, so you can clean and disinfect on the fly.
Extra Tees
Always keep an extra handful of tees in your golf bag. You never know when you’re going to need a few more, plus you can use them as makeshift ball markers in a pinch. Whether you prefer classic white or a rainbow of color, we’ve got the tees for you, at great prices!
An Umbrella
Look, you never know what the weather’s going to do. Sometimes a rain shower just blows in from nowhere, and if you’re out in the middle of a golf course, you’re going to be sore if you don’t have an umbrella. Bring a small folding umbrella in your golf bag, and you’ll be ready for whatever the day brings.
A Permanent Marker
A permanent marker is a good thing to have on hand for easily marking your balls, plus it works in a pinch to write down your scores.
Don’t Forget Balls!
Make sure you’ve always got several extra golf balls in your bag. It’s a good idea to have some hit-away balls and some better condition balls, so you can switch it up as you go. We’ve got the best deals on golf balls, from mint condition to practice balls.
