Get Your Standing Position Right
Your position is crucial, even before you actually start your swing. Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and distribute your weight evenly in both feet. Angle your upper body downwards slightly to face the ball and send your hips back behind you. Bend your knees a little to provide good stability. Now you’re ready to swing!
Backswing
To get in position for your backswing, your left knee should be pointing at the ball. Then, as you swing back, you should rotate your body from the hips and transfer your weight to your right foot for the most control.
Downswing
During your downswing, you should rotate your body through your hips (the other way, this time). As your hips rotate, your shoulders and then your arms should follow as you transfer your weight to your left foot. Think of this as an uncoiling of your body starting with the hips, then shoulders, then arms. This gives you the most strength and precision.
Follow Through
If you’ve done the first parts of your swing correctly, the follow through should just flow naturally. Your weight should be on your left side, with your hips, chest, and head facing your target.
Practice, Practice, Practice
The best thing you can do, once you know the right positioning for your golf swing, is to drill it over and over again. The goal is for the proper swing to become muscle memory. Check out our great deals on practice balls and get out there and swing!
