This Year’s Masters Champion: John Rahm
Jon Rahm came out as Masters champion after an unpredictable final round. Towards the end of the third round, it seemed like Brooks Koepka had a win in the bag, but a fumble at the end of the third round changed things, and the final round saw Rahm expertly play his way to the top and secure his victory by four strokes.
When asked what Rahm felt won him the Masters, he said “It’s not really one moment, but if I had to pick one, hitting that draw perfectly on 13 was the start of it.”
Phil Mickelson & Brooks Koepka Tie for Second Place
Second place was shared by two LIV golfers, Brooks Koepka and Phil Mickelson. Koepka had the lead in round three, but slipped into second place with a few fumbled shots. Despite a tough final round, Koepka still made some impressive shots and kept fighting until the end. Koepka and Mickelson both finished with a score of 8 under par.
Mickelson Makes Masters History
While Phil Mickelson, affectionately known as “Lefty” by fans, didn’t win the coveted green jacket this year, he still made his mark in a big way at the Masters 2023 by becoming the oldest player to ever finish in the top 5. At 52 years old, Mickelson is still going strong and playing incredible golf. In addition to being the oldest golfer to finish in the top 5 at a Masters, Mickelson also got the lowest final-round score (65) of any golfer over the age of 50 in a Masters.
